Robin Soderling, who makes his Liverpool debut next month, has reached the third round of the French Open in Paris.
The Swede, who also reached the third round of Roland Garros last year, will now face Liverpool's 2007 Champion David Ferrer.
Soderling, ranked 23rd for this year's French Open, defeated Kevin Kim and Denis Istomin to reach only his fifth ever Grand Slam third round, and will be hoping to go one better against Spain's Ferrer.
Robin is yet to drop a set, despite needing three tie-breaks so far. He won his first round match against America's Kevin Kim 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-2, before defeating Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
There are now two Liverpool bound players competing in the 3rd Round of the French Open after 16-year-old Michelle Larcher de Brito defeated Jie Zheng in the Women's second round yesterday.
Robin's route to the 3rd Round:
1st Round: Kevin Kim (USA) 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4), 6-2
2nd Round: Denis Istomin (UZB) 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-4
