Europe’s largest tennis exhibition teams up with R Charity hospital fundraisers
Tennis fans and business leaders will be cracking open the fizz and strawberries this June, and raising funds to make the new Royal hospital even better too.
R Charity has teamed up with Liverpool Hope University Tennis Tournament for the 15th year of the prestigious event which takes place each June – and every year showcases some of the world’s leading tennis players.
Tournament winners over the last few years have included Novak Djokovic and Martina Hingis, and well known faces have included Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe and Virginia Wade. Last year the event generated more than £2 million of media value for Liverpool and the event’s partners.
The tournament is now the longest running and largest tennis exhibition in Europe, and this year tennis enthusiasts will be fundraising for R Charity whose £10 million target will enhance the new Royal which is set to open next year.
Anders Borg, director of Liverpool Hope University Tennis Tournament, said: “Liverpool is the most extraordinary city and the way the tournament has evolved here over the last 15 years has been unbelievable.
“This year we are very proud to work with this amazing hospital in the heart of the city and to help raise awareness of the excellent work of R Charity in making the new Royal even better.”
“This is an incredibly exciting event to be part of, and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work of R Charity among the local business community,” says Lauren Davies, corporate partnerships manager at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
